Materials: set of soft pastels, eraser, rag, blending stump, coloured pastel paper 11 x 16″

Topic: Abstract Mapmaking
This session will introduce to using the language of maps (contour lines, grids, dots) to make abstract drawings.
Materials: Pencils (B, 2B, 4B, 6B), black pen or fine tip roller ball or other fine marker, ruler, eraser, sketchbook.

Topic: Landscape drawing with conte crayon
Materials: Conté crayon (“Conté” is a brand name and they make both crayons and pastels, the “crayon” has a clay binder and doesn’t smudge as much as the pastel) . If you don’t have the Conté crayon, then you can use compressed charcoal or a black pastel. You will also need: pastel paper (11 x 16, white if possible); a plastic eraser, a soft rag, Q-tip, and small brush for blending.
